The process of designing a home is a continual creative process involving several different steps.
Initial property research identifies the characteristics and regulations which govern the property. It is then that the client's needs are discussed and schematic designs are developed with sketches and models to explore ideas to meet these needs. Once a final solution is agreed upon, construction drawings are prepared and submitted for the permit application.
Identifying and interviewing a contractor (or contractors) is the next component of this process. A bid is prepared for the project, reviewed by owner, architect, and contractor, and then a contract for construction prepared by the selected builder.
Communication is important during the construction of the home. The owner, architect and contractor may be involved in site meetings, and coordination to ensure the home is built to the architect's intent and the owner's vision.
